Consider helping out those in need in our community.
The Lance Krasman Memorial Centre for Community Mental Health is a community-based agency specializing in the provision of Peer Support Programs for people experiencing mental health, substance use
and/or housing challenges.
As an essential service, we have continued to operate throughout the duration of the current state of emergency. While their Drop-In Centres have been closed to public access, they have been diligently serving
members of our community, and those traveling great distances, by providing food and access to hygiene, survival and wellness items. They also continue to provide peer support at the door, over the phone and through
As the widespread closures have lasted longer than any of us could have anticipated, The Krasman Centre has launched The Hope Campaign. This campaign came about with the goal of uniting our community and inspiring hope along with solidarity during these difficult times.
They are currently reaching outwards to the larger community and asking for support in providing those they serve with food, hydration, clothing, survivalgear (for those without stable housing) as part of their service.
Most of the people they support are living at or below the poverty line and many do not have a place to call ‘home’ where they can self-isolate. With local resources like libraries, public restrooms and community spaces being closed, access to basic necessities like water have made survival, wellness and recovery that much more difficult. They are working with the folks they serve to meet their needs and are committed to creative approaches when they don’t immediately have answers.
Any support you are able to provide at this time would be greatly appreciated and will go a long way.
